This 12-span 510m long viaduct comprising a pair of ladder decks carries a dual two-lane carriageway through a sweeping S-shaped curve, and is part of the final stage of the Leeds Inner Ring Road. Weathering steel was chosen because the girders will never need to be painted leading to long-term environmental and economic benefits for the local population. The decision to use weathering steel was supported by the client, who liked the idea of reflecting the industrial heritage of Hunslett, an area that was once known as the workshop of Leeds.
